All That’s Left

I’ve been off work so long I can’t recall

What it’s like to paint the town and have a ball

We’ve gone through all our savings

We’ve borrowed from our friends

Will we eat tomorrow?  Darlin, that depends.

It really hurt the day we had to sell the boat

But that’s the only way we kept ourselves afloat

It didn’t take too long, dear

Till we sold the pickup too

And now my darlin, all that’s left to sell is you.

(chorus)

When we stopped buyin dog food, old Rover ran away

It breaks my heart, if he was here he’d make a fine fillet

The banker took our house away, he took our TV too

And now my darlin, all that’s left to sell is you

Your momma sold her trailer, there in town

And then the homeless shelter burned down to the ground

Now we live under the overpass

On highway 52

And I’m afraid dear all that’s left to sell is you.

(chorus 2)

I did everything I knew to keep the wolf away from our door

But since I sold my pistol I can’t hold up stores no more

So please put on those go-go boots, and rat your hair out too

And get to work ‘cause all that’s left to sell is you.
